24th August ILB
IB1 George and Muriel re-launches after exercise.
Shortly after the Cromer inshore lifeboat rehoused after the evenings exercise, Yarmouth Coastguard requested the assistance of the ILB to investigate reports of a boat in difficulties just off the end of the pier slipway.
As the crew were coming ashore, minutes earlier, they observed a local small fishing vessel with 4 POB and 2 kayaks near the pier. Suspecting these were the possible casualty being reported the crew re-launched the ILB to make sure there were no other vessels or persons in the area.
Once on scene the ILB crew spoke with the fishermen who said that they were all OK & the only other people they had seen were the 2 kayaks.
A brief area observation was carried out around the pier before the ILB crew approached the kayaks, who were now heading ashore in the rapidly fading light, to make sure all was good with them.
Cromer ILB relayed this information to Yarmouth coastguard who stood them down to return to station.
The inshore lifeboat was once again washed down and made ready for service.
