Lester returns home

Cromer lifeboat returns to station after spending time at RNLI HQ in Poole.

The Lester left the station a few months ago, to get some technical issues rectified in the boatyard, that couldn't be carried out on station.

RNLB LesterWhile she was away she had her hull repainted with white anti-foul paint, which many people think looks better on a vessel that sits on a slipway, rather than the more common red paint.

During the early part of her journey home the Lester became involved in a 'real life' incident just south of the Isle of Wight, involving a yacht that had a small fire with 10 people on board, Cromer lifeboat stood by until the Tamar lifeboat Alfred Albert Williams from Bembridge arrived on scene to take charge of the situation, allowing our boat to continue on her way home.

The relief lifeboat Victor Freeman launched shortly after 11:00 on 14th August and scattered some ashes before setting off to meet up with our stations own lifeboat. Passing Gt. Yarmouth at approximately 12:00 heading toward Southwold, to change over operational equipment.

The Victor Freeman then continued on her journey back to Poole and Lester headed home, arriving at the slipway at 16:15.

Washed down, refuelled and ready for service by 17:00.
