Lester comes home

Boat Info   RNLB Lester returns home after visit to RNLI Headquarters

Cromer lifeboat RNLB Lester returned to station on Sunday 31st August after spending a short time at RNLI HQ, Poole for minor paintwork and equipment updates ahead of her naming ceremony later this month.

16-10 & 16-07When the lifeboat arrived on the east coast she stayed at the Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club marina at Lowestoft for a few weeks while slipway alterations where completed at Cromer. While she was berthed in the marina rubber fenders were used to protect the hull from serious damage. Unfortunately due to the amount of time she spent there she suffered some minor paint damage known as 'fender rash' in a couple of places on her starboard side, these have now been repaired.

Due to the fact that we are having her naming ceremony on the 8th September it was decided that she needed to be in 'tip top' condition for our royal visitor and a visit to Poole was arranged. While she was there it enabled the technical staff to carry out a few equipment and software upgrades at the same time.

With the work complete she is now back on station and everyone involved at Cromer are looking farward to meeting HRH The Duke of Kent.
