RNLI Henry Blogg Lifeboat Museum
The original lifeboat museum at Cromer which was housed in the old No.2 boathouse, has been replaced with an all new building!
On the right you can see the new RNLI Henry Blogg Lifeboat Museum on the prom, next to the No.2 lifeboat house, at the bottom of the gangway. During October 2005 the new museum had the interior fitted out, ready for the opening ceremony.
On the 12th of April 2006 Ronnie Corbett was in Cromer to open the new £1.8m museum. The crew, local dignitaries and V.I.P.s were there, the museum was opened to the public on the 13th!
The new museum has the H. F. Bailey on display on the ground floor, there is an information centre on the first floor and a restaurant on the second floor with access from the cliff top to the prom via a lift, and for disabled access.
The H F Bailey was moved into the new museum on the 26th October 2005, pictures of the move can be seen in the Gallery.
On the left you can see the interior of the museum, looking down on the lifeboat from the viewing gallery. There are many things to see and do in the new museum, for kids of ALL ages.
There are more pictures in our Gallery of the opening ceremony.
R.N.L.I. Chief Executive Andrew Freemantle MBE gave a speech on the evening, as did Ronnie Corbett OBE, keeping the crowds entertained.
The museum was very busy during the Easter holiday with many visitors through the doors to see the H F Bailey and the displays inside.
