Cromer ILB was tasked to proceed towards West Runton as a 999 call had been made to Yarmouth Coastguard reporting a vessel possibly in need of assistance
The ILB was on scene at 19:43 and searched an area approx. 1.5nm offshore
Liaising with Aux. Coastguards ashore the ILB crew were satisfied that the object in question was the outfall buoy just off the Runtons
The ILB was released from service at 19:54 to carry on with exercise
False alarm with good intent..
