Ladies Guild cook up an SOS day treat
Soup or Scones was the theme of this years SOS day event which was held at the Community Centre on Garden Street on Saturday 28th January..
Members of the Ladies Lifeboat Guild cooked up a wide range of soups, scones and cakes for a hungry public eager to warm themselves up on a cold afternoon. A raffle was held and a penny race was staged in which pennies were laid by attendees around the perimeter of the hall.
This years annual fundraising event was co-ordinated by Chairman of the Ladies Lifeboat Guild Beryl Mansell and RNLI Henry Blogg museum manager Jacqui Palmer. The funds raised will help to pay for new lifejackets which are being rolled out to our volunteer crews around the country. The lifejackets have been developed over a two-year process with input from volunteers to incorporate the latest material technology and the RNLI in the East Anglian region need to raise around £45,000 to fund them.
A very big thank you to all involved in a successful day!
