Members of the crew mustered at the inshore boathouse and quickly prepared themselves and the boat for the 'shout' entering the water at 02:32 proceeding towards the Pier, where the person was last seen by the first informant. Police and Coastguard Auxiliaries were also in attendance to assist with the search. At 02:35 crew members ashore and Coastguards were on the Pier helping with the search of the Pier and surrounding area, firing parachute flares and using the search lights on the offshore boathouse. At 02:39 a beach search commenced to the East and West of the Pier along the shoreline. During the search the ILB was in contact with the Coastguard control room being updated with information regarding search areas and progress ashore. Having covered an area 1.5nm to the East and West of Cromer Pier and reports from the Police that the person had called them to say he was safe and well, the ILB was stood down at 03:49 and headed back to the station. At 04:15 the ILB was washed down, re-housed, refuelled and ready for service. The crew returned home to their beds..
