Called away during display! 'Ruby and Arthur Reed II' was attending Happisburghs lifeboat day, taking part in the display by going to the aid of a speedboat with fire hose in action and was in the process of towing the boat in, when at 15:15 Gt Yarmouth Coastguard contacted the crew on the radio and asked that Cromer lifeboat proceed immediately back towards Cromer. Reports had been recieved, from a lifeguard on the beach, about an object floating in the water approx. 3/4 of a mile North East of the East beach. On arrival on scene the crew on the lifeboat found a black bin bag containing rubbish just off Cromer Lighthouse. After contacting the coastguard to inform them the bag was recovered, the lifeboat then headed back to station. Crew on Board Shore Crew |
