The 38ft converted wooden fishing vessel 'ANNELISE' was slowly taking on water and also had engine difficulties. The lifeboat made contact with the casualty at 10:00 and assessed the situation when it arrived on scene. The Coxswain, John Davies, decided to escort the 'ANNELISE' towards Gt. Yarmouth as she was making way under her own power at the time. Staying close by, and keeping in touch with the vessels skipper in case he encountered any further problems, the lifeboat crew made ready the towing equipment, just in case! At approximately 15:45 the casualties engine stalled and would only re-start for a short time, the decision was then made to take the vessel in tow to complete the journey. Arriving at Gt. Yarmouth at 16:00 the crew had time to stow the gear they had used and get some grub! Mechanics changed, as Paul Watling (Station Mechanic) was returning from a meeting and Paul Jeffries (2nd Mechanic) was urgently needed work and would get there quicker by road! At approximately 16:15 they cast off and headed back towards Cromer arriving on the beach at 18:30. After recovery, refuelling and washing down the lifeboat the crew made her ready for service at 19:35
