Cromers Tamar lifeboat RNLB Lester launched to the sound of 2 maroons fired from the end of pier boathouse at 20:00 this evening to go to the aid of an injured person aboard the cable laying barge UR101 approximately 16nm NNW of Cromer. At 20:45 Cromer lifeboat approached the cable laying barge to take the casualty aboard and head for shore. At 21:15 the casualty was on board lifeboat which then headed for the boathouse. 22:12 saw the lifeboat return to the slipway to be recovered and to hand over the injured man to the waiting ambulance crew to be taken to Norwich University Hospital for further treatment to his right hand. Cromer Branch Chairman, Tony Webster, was able to assist the ambulance crew by translating the information they required about the patient from Malaysian to English! The lifeboat was washed down, re-fuelled and ready for service again at 23:00 Crew on Board
