Cromer ILB paged to launch at 22:50
The Cromer inshore lifeboat, Seahorse III, entered the water at 23:00 and proceeded towards Overstrand after reports of an object floating in the water just off the sea wall.
Arriving on scene at 23:12 the crew contacted the local coastguard team, already on the promenade, to get an update on the situation and decided to land the ILB on the launch ramp to help man handle the large orange buoy out of the water and onto hard ground.
The object had been put in the water by approximately 9 youths, seen and reported by onlookers.
After assisting the Coastguard team the ILB was re-launched and headed back to Cromer.
The inshore lifeboat was recovered at 00:14, washed down re-fuelled and made ready for service at 00:28
