Cromer offshore lifeboat paged to launch at 08:04
Cromer lifeboat RNLB Lester launched at 08:17 this morning to go to the aid of a 22ft yacht called TOMAHAWK approximately 25nm off Cromer.
The yacht has lost its rudder and requires assistance. Rescue helicopter 125 from RAF Wattisham is also en-route. The Putford VOYAGER was 30 minutes from the scene and proceeded to assist.
The rescue helicopter stood by on scene until surface vessels arrived, and carried out a brief search for the lost rudder.
At 09:15 the Putford VOYAGER approached the casualty, while Cromer lifeboat had approximately 20 minutes to run.
At 09:28 Cromer lifeboat was on scene with the Putford VOYAGER to access the casualty's situation and concider the best course of action.
At 09:45 the Putford VOYAGER was released from the scene by Yarmouth Coastguard to continue her journey.
At 09:53 the yacht TOMAHAWK was being prepared to be taken in tow by Cromer lifeboat and the situation was downgraded from a Mayday to a PanPan.
15:08 Cromer lifeboat has just entered the River Yare at Great Yarmouth to take the TOMAHAWK to the quay.
15:22 The Y class lifeboat, carried aboard Cromer's Tamar class lifeboat was also involved in a service to a jet ski that had suffered machinery failure while inside Yarmouth harbour.......
18:30 RNLB Lester returned to station and recovered into boathouse.
19:00 Cromer lifeboat was washed down, refuelled and made ready for service.
