As members of the inshore lifeboat crew were getting ready to take part in the Cromer Carnival parade, their pagers sounded for an immediate launch to go to the aid of a swimmer, reported to be in difficulties to the west of the peir. The crew were at the Carnival field, the other end of town from the boathouse, but were beside the local Coastguard team who helpfully gave them a lift to the boathouse in their vehicle with the assistance of blue lights and sirens! (Thank you lads) The crew arrived and prepared the D-class lifeboat, Seahorse III for the launch, but as they made their way to the waters edge they were stood down as the casualty had made it safely ashore. After returning the lifeboat to the boathouse the crew then made their way back up to the Carnival field in time for the start of the parade. Crew M. Brown J. King S. Roberts I. Chambers W. Amey C.
